FJ1 — 7 kW Single-Phase AC Charging Controller Board

The FJ1 is the control board inside a 7 kW single-phase AC wallbox: 32 A, AC Mode 3 to IEC 61851-1, CE certified under the Low Voltage Directive and the EMC Directive, with Bluetooth app control and on-board charging strategies. It is the board that powers eectec's own 7 kW single-phase AC platform for residential charging, and it is sold to brand owners who build that platform under their own name.

Specifications

Every figure below is a board-level parameter. Nothing on this page describes the finished wallbox, because the finished wallbox is the brand owner's product, not ours.

  • Production lead time — 45 days after order confirmation

Where this board sits in a wallbox

A residential AC wallbox has three layers. Knowing which layer the FJ1 occupies is the fastest way to tell whether it is the right part to be quoting.

On the board

Control and safety

Control Pilot signalling and current setting to IEC 61851-1, relay switching, the protection set including relay welded-contact detection, and the on-board charging strategies. These are duties with a physical measurement or a switching action behind them, so they cannot be relocated to a server.

Added alongside

Backend connectivity

The FJ1 carries Bluetooth for app control. A backend link is added with the separate OCPP communication board, which runs OCPP 1.6 over Ethernet, 4G, Wi-Fi, RS232 or CAN and retains data through a power loss. Where a backend is required from the start, the FY1 platform carries OCPP 1.6J natively.

Not on the board

Enclosure, cable, brand

Housing, connector or tethered cable, labelling, packaging and the declaration of conformity for the finished product belong to the party placing that product on the market. eectec supplies the board and, where the customer wants it, the complete wallbox — but the brand owner remains the manufacturer under EU product law.

What eectec states, and what it does not

eectec holds no Open Charge Alliance certificate, for OCPP 1.6 or for OCPP 2.0.1. Our charging platform runs OCPP 1.6 in large-scale commercial operation, with OCPP 2.0.1 support in final development — first delivery scheduled for December 2026.

The 3 kA figure is stated as a design margin against a draft edition of IEC 61851-1, not as compliance with a published requirement. eectec does not claim that supplying a CE certified board makes a brand owner's finished wallbox compliant; under the EU Blue Guide (2022/C 247/01) the party placing the product on the market under its own name is the manufacturer and holds that obligation.

Production background, for scale rather than for the individual order: 15 years in the business, more than 1,000,000 control boards shipped to date, more than 1,500 customers, and a field defect rate of 880 PPM.

Questions we get about this board

Is the FJ1 an OCPP board?

Not on its own. The FJ1 is the control board for a residential 7 kW wallbox and carries Bluetooth for app control; it has no backend connection by itself. OCPP connectivity is added with the separate OCPP communication board, which pairs with any eectec AC or DC charging controller and runs OCPP 1.6 over Ethernet, 4G, Wi-Fi, RS232 or CAN. If the product needs a backend from day one, the FY1 platform carries OCPP 1.6J natively.

Does eectec hold an Open Charge Alliance certificate for this board?

No. eectec holds no Open Charge Alliance certificate, for OCPP 1.6 or for OCPP 2.0.1. The eectec charging platform runs OCPP 1.6 in large-scale commercial operation, and OCPP 2.0.1 support is in final development with first delivery scheduled for December 2026. Certification against the OCPP test suite is issued by an OCA-recognised test laboratory to a named product and firmware version, and eectec does not claim it.

What does CE certified mean for a control board rather than a finished wallbox?

The FJ1 is CE certified under the Low Voltage Directive and the EMC Directive, and certificates are available on request. That establishes the board's own conformity; it does not transfer conformity to the finished wallbox. Under the EU Blue Guide, the party that places the finished product on the market under its own name is the manufacturer and carries the declaration of conformity for that product. The board's test reports shorten that work; they do not replace it.

What is the minimum order quantity and lead time for the FJ1?

300 boards for the standard configuration and 1,000 boards for a customised configuration. Production lead time is 45 days after order confirmation. A customised AC board typically takes about three months of development before the first production run.

What does the 3 kA short-circuit figure refer to?

The board remains operational after a 3 kA short-circuit event. This is stated as a margin against the IEC 61851-1 Ed4 draft rather than as compliance with a published requirement, because that edition is a draft. It is a design margin figure, not a certification result.

Can the FJ1 do dynamic load balancing without a backend?

Yes. Scheduled charging, dynamic load balancing, and PV-aware and tariff-aware charging strategies run on the board. This matters for two reasons: the current-setting duty sits on the Control Pilot line and cannot be moved to a server, and a residential wallbox has to behave correctly when the internet connection is down.
